Covenant Relationship #10
Greetings in the name of the Lord! This month is the month of Easter. I feel to concentrate on the events that lead up to the crucifixion. This is such a powerful true story that demonstrates the love Jesus Christ has for us.
Do any of us have a friend that is literally willing to die for you? I don’t know any! But our Savior was willing to suffer a horrible death that you and I would have an opportunity to be saved. Wow! Just that paragraph alone gives me chills!
Let’s get right into the story.
Luke 22. It was time for Passover. Jesus sent Peter and John to go prepare the feast. Peter and John asked Jesus where are we having the feast?
And he (Jesus) said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
12 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
These scriptures say so much to me. It seems so simple where will we prepare the Passover feast? Jesus and His disciples didn’t have a house , they knew many people but it wasn’t clear where Jesus wanted the feast to take place. . The disciples knew Jesus well enough to ask. They knew was always prepared and always had a plan.
Before text and telephone Jesus already planned the place. He prepared a man that would be waiting to direct them to the designated place.
The same is true for us, Jesus has a plan for your life. Even when we don’t know the where, the when or the how He still has a plan. He sets up people, places and things in our lives giving us direction. Sometimes we don’t even realize it.
The Passover was a yearly holiday feast celebrating the freedom of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. To the disciples it was just another get together but Jesus had much greater plans.
The Lords supper was the beginning of the end. Jesus spoke to them about what was to come. He instructed them in communion and he exposed the traitor in the group.
None of this was by accident but each step of the journey was planned. He already knew, even before Judas betrayed Him, that he was going to betray him.
Usually a servant is present at the feast to wash the feet of those in attendance but Jesus knew the servant wasn’t going to be there it was a part of the plan! This was an opportunity for Jesus to wash their feet himself and show the disciple how to be humble. Teaching them to Love one another as he loved them. John 13: 34-35.
This brings to mind the scriptures in Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, (Jesus was thinking of you before the world was created) God knows your beginning and he knows your ending and He still said my thoughts for you are thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. You have an expected end. That tells me it’s planned. You have purpose! You are loved and Jesus wants to spend time with you and on you. He wants to fix all of our issues. And believe me we all have them! Why do we have so many issues? Because we are human. Because we live in the flesh! Because of Adam and Eve’s sin in the garden of Eden we struggle with life. Galatians 5:17 says there’s a war going on within each of us. A war between flesh and Spirit. The flesh and Spirit are contrary to each other and makes it where it’s virtually impossible to do right things on our own. But with Jesus it becomes possible! Mark 9:23
12 God says: Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. God said “I will hear You!” He cares about you! Sometimes hard things come into our lives because Jesus wants to have a conversation with you. All of us get busy. We all get distracted! We forget that He is with us and has a plan for us! Hard things are His way of saying: “l love you and l have a plan for you but we got to do it together!” When can’t do life without Jesus. He is literally the air we breathe! Talk to Jesus and tell Him everything! Your hopes, your dream. Maybe that’s all apart of His plan for you!
13 God said: ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. “With all your heart” means whatever it takes! Whatever I have to do to get closer to you then I will do it!
14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD
He said seek me and you’re gonna find me and when you find me you will find your purpose!
I know that all of us can look back on our life and see the hand of God upon us. We see the times He protected us from tragedy. We see the times that He sent someone to us just in the nick of time to uplift and encourage us to be and do better! That is the providence of God. It’s our Shepherd in the wilderness. Sometimes it leads us into the storm. Sometimes it prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies! It will lead you beside still waters! And even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil because providence is with me!
Isaiah 41:10 God said: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Your prayer today: Lord I know that everything in my life up to this point (and beyond) has been orchestrated by you. Help me to understand the Love You have for me and teach me how to love you back with all of my heart, my soul, my mind and with all of my strength! Teach me Your ways because they are perfect. Give me courage to be a true reflection of Jesus Christ today!
